MIAMI (AP) – James Jones had 15 points and 15 rebounds as Miami defeatedFlorida Atlantic 74-48 Monday, improving to 15-0 in the series.
Darius Rice scored 14 points, Michael Simmons had a career-high 13 andMarcus Barnes finished with 10 for the Hurricanes (5-0).
Robert Williams paced Florida Atlantic (1-2) with 10 points.
Miami has won 25 straight games against Florida schools since dropping a72-64 decision to Florida International on Dec. 1, 1992.
After falling behind 7-0 to start the game, Miami grabbed the lead for good,17-16, on a fast-break dunk by John Salmons.
The Hurricanes closed the first half with a 12-2 run and led 38-25 at thebreak. Rice hit two 3-point baskets and scored eight points in the stretch.
In the closing minutes of the game, Miami broke open a 30-point advantage,despite shooting just 37 percent from the field.
The Owls shot just 28 percent for the game, including 2-for-27 from 3-pointrange.
