Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) — – The University of Miami baseball team (25-6), following a 4-0 record last week, climbed to as high as No. 4 by Baseball America in the most recent baseball polls released this week. Additionally, UM is also ranked fifth by Collegiate Baseball and sixth in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches’ Poll.
Baseball America moved the Hurricanes to No. 4 in its March 26 release, after spending the previous week at No. 6. UM jumped Arizona State and Nebraska after those teams went 1-1 and 1-3, respectively last week. Stanford, Rice and Georgia Tech remained 1-2-3 for the second straight week.
The Hurricanes’ most recent No. 5 ranking by Collegiate Baseball is there highest all season in the weekly college baseball newspaper. Ranked as high as No. 9 by the poll two weeks ago, UM jumped from No. 6 to No. 5 this week after Nebraska fell all the way to No. 15.
UM also moved up one spot in the Baseball Weekly/ESPN Coaches’ Poll from No. 7 to No. 6, after jumping ahead of Louisiana State.
Miami will host No. 24 Cal State Fullerton this weekend in a three-game series, Friday through Sunday at Mark Light Stadium. Game times are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

UM’s flagship station Sports Radio 560 WQAM, featuring the “Voice of the Hurricanes” Marc Vandermeer and Joe Zagacki, will carry the Saturday and Sunday games, while UM’s Spanish Broadcast Network on WACC 830 AM Radio Paz with Jerry del Castillo and Pepe Campos will pick-up the Friday and Sunday games. Fox Sports Net Florida will televise the Saturday and Sunday contests live with WPLG Channel 10 sportscaster Frank Forte, Zagacki and Luis “Wicho” Hernandez on the call. All three games can also be heard on the student voice of the Hurricanes, WVUM 90.5 FM.
