Syracuse, NY – Miami freshman Vince Wilfork (Lantana, FL) finished second in the shot put with a school-record toss of 17.05 meters (55-11.25) at the BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championships in Syracuse, NY.

Wilfork, a defensive lineman on the UM football team, becomes the first Hurricane in school history surpass 17 meters in the shot put. It also marks the third consecutive meet in which he established a new school record in the event.

Miami, which finished in a tie for eighth in the team competition, had two other second-place finishers. Sophomore Phillip Buchanan (Lehigh, FL) finished second in the 60-meters with a time of 6.80 while junior Gus Martin took second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.06.

Freshman Willis MaGahee (Miami Central) also ran well finishing fifth in the 60-meters (6.80). Senior Jabari Ennis (Kingston, Jamaica) took sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.65 meters (15-03.00).
