Hurricane Runners Finish 12th At Big East Championships

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Junior Jeff Gaulrapp (Baldwinsville, NY)finished 26th while senior Shannon Sarabyn (Centreville, VA) took 28th tolead the University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams to12th-place finishes at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships in ChestnutHill, Massachusetts.

The UM men finished with 331 points while the Hurricane women posted328 points. The Providence men (39 points) took home their seventh titlewhile Boston College (38 points) won the women’s championship for the firsttime since 1985.

Gaulrapp, who has been the Hurricanes top finisher in every meetthis season, completed the 8,000-meter course in a school-record time of24.37. Junior Dan Boniface (Seattle, Wash.), a transfer from Washington State,was the Hurricanes’ second fastest finisher taking 72nd with a time of26:10. Freshman Matt Mulvaney (South Hadley, Mass.) finished 73rd (26:17).

Sarabyn, winner of nine career individual titles, finished 28th(18:10) in the 5,000-meter women’s race to lead the UM women. Sarabyn hasbeen UM’s top finisher in every race this season and set a school-recordwith five consecutive race victories to open the season. Junior JenniferGeroux (Balto, MD) was the Hurricanes’ second fastest finisher taking 67thin a time of 19:17.
