UM Soccer Plays Host To Jacksonville

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The University of Miami women’s soccer team plays host to Jacksonville University Sunday at 1 p.m. at Cobb Stadium.

Miami enters the contest 6-5 after falling 2-0 to No. 16 Portland Friday night. Jacksonville boasts a 10-1 record, including a current nine-game winning streak. JU’s only loss this season was a 3-0 shutout by No. 21 Florida State.

UM played the Dolphins two times in their inaugural season, JU one the first match 3-0 and the second meeting ended in a 2-2 tie. The two teams did not play each other last season.

Sophomore Laura West (Allen, Texas) continues to lead UM with six goals and 13 points.

Freshman Nicole Safran (Harrison City, Penn.) follows West with nine points on the season, she has assisted in five goals including two game-winning assists.

Junior Trine Riis Groven leads the Dolphins with 29 points, including 11 goals scored and seven assists.

The Dolphins average 19 shots per game, while UM averages 14 per game.
