Clarke Headed To Olympics

Coral Gables, FL – Former University of Miami track star Davian Clarke has qualified for the Jamaican Olympic team that will be competing at the Summer Olympic Games, September 15 – October 1, in Sydney, Australia.
Clarke will compete in both 400-meters and 4×400-meter relay.
Clarke, a two-time NCAA 400-meter champion while at competing for the Hurricanes from 1994-98, will be making his second trip to the Olympic games. In 1996, Clarke anchored the Jamaican 4×400-meter relay to a bronze medal. He also reached the finals of the 400-meters where he finished seventh (44.99).
Clarke was a six-time All-American while at Miami and won NCAA National Championships in the 400-meters in 1996 and 1998. He left UM as the school-record holder in six different events including the indoor 400-meters (45.86), indoor 4×400-meter relay (3:09.75), outdoor 200-meters (20.66), outdoor 400-meters (44.96), outdoor 4×400-meter relay (3:07.15) and the Sprint Medley relay (3:18.20).
