Damione Lewis enters his first season as the Miami Hurricanes’ defensive tackles coach in 2025.

Lewis arrives back to his alma mater after spending the 2024 season at Colorado, where he served as the Buffaloes’ defensive line coach. In his lone season in Boulder, the Buffaloes led the Big 12 in sacks with 39.

Under Lewis’ watch, the Buffaloes allowed opponents nearly 25 fewer rushing yards per game compared to 2023 – the season before his arrival. DE BJ Green II was the conference’s Newcomer of the Year with 12 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks, while DT Chidozie Nwankwo was an honorable mention selection with 25 tackles, three for losses and 1.5 sacks

Lewis spent the 2020-2023 seasons in the NFL, assisting in coaching the Seattle Seahawks defensive line in a number of capacities. Prior to his start in coaching, Lewis was hired in 2019 by FIU as Assistant Athletics Director with a focus on player development and community relations for the football program.

The former Hurricane standout was a second-team All-BIG EAST selection as a junior in 1999 and was a first-team choice in 2000. He ended his tenure at Miami with 220 tackles and 15.5 sacks before being selected 12th overall in the 2001 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams.

Lewis collected 262 career tackles, 23.5 sacks and four forced fumbles while in the NFL, having spent a decade playing professionally for the Rams, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots and Houston Texans.
