HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – The University of Miami rowing team opened their fall schedule Saturday against Nova Southeastern with the Hurricanes’ two eights taking first and second place in all six four-minute pieces.

“I was very proud of our team today,” head coach Robbie Tenenbaum said. “Both of our boats raced hard and I know that everyone on our team was happy to get our first competition under our belts.

“We know that there is a lot of work ahead of us, and we are looking forward to the next time we can get out there and compete.”

Nova Southeastern’s eight placing third in each piece. The stroke rating for the pieces was between 18 and 24 strokes per minute.

“The team has adapted really well to our new training regime, and our student-athletes realize that we have a lot of great people fighting for seats in the top boats,” Tenenbaum said.

The Hurricanes will return to the water Nov. 11 when UM travels to Charlotteville, Va. to compete in the Rivanna Romp on the Rivanna Reservoir.
