Hurricane Varsity Four Wins C-Final at ARAMARK Central/South Sprints

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The University of Miami Varsity 4+ crew finished first in the C-Final on the final day of competition at the 2005 ARAMARK Central/South Region Sprints held on MeltonHillLake in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Hurricanes finished 17th overall and eighth in the South Region with 77 total points. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
UM’s Varsity 4+ crew of Cox-Meghan Leydecker, Marenda Chamberlin, Jenny Dunning, Julie Crane and Mackenna Moeller clocked in a time of 7:59.30 to finish first, over four seconds ahead of instate rival Central Florida, who finished second with a time of 8:03.6.
In the C-Final for the Junior Varsity 8+, Miami finished in seventh place with a time of 7:19.2 behind first place finisher Louisville, who posted a time of 7:02.50.
The Hurricanes faired better in the Varsity 8+ C-Final, finishing fourth with a time of 6:59.98 for 54 points. Duke finished first with a time of 6:48.30 followed by second place Clemson (6:51.80) and Texas (6:53.59).
Miami’s Open 4+ finished fifth in the B-Final, posting a time of 8:19.84 behind first place Tennessee (7:59.00), Cincinnati (8:08.65), Indiana (8:72.62) and Clemson (8:15.39).
Virginia captured the ninth annual Central/South Region Championship with 372 total points, six points ahead of second place OhioState who tallied 366 points.
