UM Rowing Travels to Atlanta for the 2003 Head of the Chattahoochee Regatta

Oct. 29, 2003

The University of Miami women’s rowing team will travel to Atlanta, Saturday, November 1, for the 2003 Head of the Chattahoochee Regatta (The Hooch). The Hooch is held on Lake Lanier, the site of the 1996 Olympic Rowing Events. An estimated 1000 boat entries will be tested for strength, technique, and resolve over the 5000 meter course.

“This is a huge event for the Hurricanes as each athlete is rowing multiple races over a two day period,” Head Coach Debra Morgan said. “Our priority events are the eights and fours. We’re looking to try to finish in the top 5 in as many events as possible.”

The team hopes to build on a strong performance at the XXXIX Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Mass. where the Varsity 8 finished 33 out of 40 and the Youth 8 placed 14 out of 55.
