Taylor Covington was hired as Miami’s Senior Executive Associate Athletic Director, Business Strategy & Capital Projects in February 2026. Covington leads the athletic department’s fiscal and business strategy, oversees the athletics business office, and manages the athletic department’s capital projects.
Covington brings extensive corporate, professional sports, and collegiate athletics business experience to Coral Gables. Prior to Miami, he spent two years as Senior Associate Athletic Director and Chief Financial Officer at UNLV, where he served on the athletic department’s executive team as well as managed the budgets, financial performance, and business strategies of both the athletics department and the Thomas and Mack Events Center. At UNLV, he developed and implemented new budgeting, financial planning, and fiscal management processes that contributed to the elimination of operational deficits of both UNLV Athletics and the Thomas and Mack Events Center.
Prior to UNLV, Covington worked for two years at West Virginia University as Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations, also serving six months as the athletic department’s interim Chief Financial Officer where he played a key role in helping WVU remain competitive in the newly expanded Big 12 conference. Covington started in college athletics as project manager and internal consultant for strategy and business operations at his alma mater BYU from 2021-22.
Before his career in college athletics, Covington spent six years in strategy consulting, first at PricewaterhouseCoopers and then at Deloitte, where he worked as a finance strategy consultant and in the sports consulting practice. As a strategy consultant, he worked with some of the world’s premier Fortune 500 companies, professional sports teams, leagues, and athletics organizations to innovate and drive value across all financial and strategic functions.
Covington graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in economics and would return later to obtain a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the BYU Marriott School of Business.
