Mike Boykin joined the University of Miami in July 2024 as a sports physical therapy resident.
Before his tenure at Miami, Boykin served as a physical therapist at the University of Iowa Sports Medicine and the CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center in Boulder, Colorado. In Boulder, he also volunteered as a track and field coach.
Boykin holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Iowa and an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. During his time at the University of Iowa, he volunteered as a track and field coach, assisting with track and weight room development for the sprints, hurdles, and multi-event groups.
Prior to his work in Iowa, Boykin was a sprints and hurdles coach at ALTIS, a center for professional track and field athletes. He played a key role in developing their sports science initiatives. As a strength and conditioning coach, Mike has worked with athletes in various Olympic sports, including basketball, soccer, hockey, volleyball, and tennis, from youth to professional levels.
Boykin is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Sprint, Hurdle, & Relay Event Specialist through the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association.
