Meg Christenson currently serves as the Director of Athletic Communications at the University of Miami, where she is the primary communications contact for women’s basketball, women’s golf, and women’s soccer. In her role, she oversees all internal and external media efforts for the programs and assists with football game day press box and sideline media personnel operations. Christenson also leads Miami Athletics’ student work program within the communications department, mentoring and developing the next generation of sports communications professionals while helping young professionals establish successful careers in the industry.
Prior to Miami, Christenson spent nearly three years at the University of Florida as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. She served as the primary media contact for the nationally recognized women’s basketball and women’s tennis programs, while building strong relationships throughout the SEC and national media landscape. During her time with the Gators, she collaborated on high-profile initiatives with The Players’ Tribune, ESPN SC Features, Jordan Brand, ESPN Deportes, and Gatorade, while also contributing to the university’s communications efforts surrounding the men’s basketball program’s 2025 National Championship title. In addition to traditional communications responsibilities, Christenson played a significant role in social media growth strategies, creative content management, recruiting efforts, branding development, and personalized NIL planning for prospective student-athletes.
Christenson began her professional career at Ohio University, where she worked in Athletic Communications while completing graduate studies. She served as the primary communications contact for women’s basketball, women’s soccer, and both the men’s and women’s golf programs, while also supporting football communications and game day operations. During her time with the Bobcats, she developed a strong foundation in media relations, storytelling, statistical reporting, and strategic communications across multiple Division I programs.
A proud Ohio University graduate, Christenson earned her Bachelor degrees in Marketing and Sport Business before completing both a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2022 and a Master of Sports Administration (MSA) in 2023. She remains actively involved with Ohio University’s MBA/MSA program, helping mentor current students and young professionals pursuing careers in collegiate athletics and sports communications.
Beyond her collegiate athletics responsibilities, Christenson serves on the board of directors for Hoops Creating Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to using basketball as a way to break poverty cycles through gender equality, education, and opportunity in India. Through her professional and volunteer work, she remains committed to growing the sports communications industry while building communities, helping student-athletes, and young professionals reach their full potential.
