Lance Bennett joined the University of Miami Sports Physical Therapy Residency in July 2026, where he works with Miami Hurricanes Athletics.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Lance played four years of football at Morehouse College while earning his Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology. He then went on to Auburn University for a Master of Science in Exercise Science before completing his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Duke University.
Before coming to Miami, Lance worked as a sports physical therapist at VCU Health Sports Medicine, treating athletes and active individuals across a broad range of orthopedic and sports-related conditions. Earlier in his career, he spent three years in a private sports performance setting, focusing on rehabilitation and return-to-sport for athletes ranging from elite high school to professional level.
Lance is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and he’s especially drawn to return-to-sport decision-making, strength and conditioning, and finding practical ways to bring sports science into clinical care. He values working alongside physicians, athletic trainers, and strength coaches as part of a broader performance team focused on helping athletes reach their potential.
Outside the clinic, Lance enjoys spending time with his wife and family, staying active with strength training, traveling, and always searching out a good new restaurant.
