CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami swimming and diving team opened the 2026-27 season defeating Ohio, 193-106, and North Florida, 232-54, Friday at the Whitten Center Pool.
The 200 yard medley relay of Leah Evans, Kaelia Hughes, Ashlyn Massey and Addison Vonderahe opened the meet with a win, registering a time of 1:43.07. In the 1000 yard freestyle, the Hurricanes swept the podium as Marissa Inouye took home first at 10:17.30 followed by Sophie Lenze (10:19.99) and Peyton Leigh at 10:22.71.
Joslyn Bolton touched the wall with a time of 1:50.85 to win the 200 yard freestyle as Taylor Joahnnsen placed second at 15.35, edging out Brooke Murphy, who placed third at 1:51.91.
In the 100 yard backstroke, Leah Treglia won with a time of 56.07 as Leah Evans (56.36) and Phoebe Mayo (56.41) placed second and third, respectively. Marin Priddy earned a first-place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.10.
Massey won the 200 yard butterfly at 2:01.49, and Charlotte Brousseau was runner-up with a time of 2:04.01.
Bolton earned her second victory of the meet in the 100 yard freestyle, touching the wall at 51.49. Phoebe Mayo won the 200 yard backstroke with a first-place time of 2:01.13. Sophie Lenze registered the top time in the 200 yard breaststroke at 2:19.15 as Kalia Hughes placed second at 2:22.55.
Taylor Johannsen and Marissa Inouye placed first and second in the 500 yard freestyle at 5:00.19 and 5:00.61, respectively. Johannsen followed with a win in the 200 yard individual medley at 2:03.84, followed by teammates Brousseau (2:05.70) and Juliette Daigneault (2:06.34).
In the one-meter dive, Aurelie Sevigny won with a score of 325.35 as Emily Francis placed second at 317.93. Francis won the three-meter dive with a score of 343.95 while Sevigny placed second at 332.93.
The Hurricanes return to the pool Saturday at 10 a.m. as they compete against Ohio and North Florida before the men’s diving team competes at Florida Oct. 15 & 16.
