CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Goalkeeper Atlee Olofson recorded four saves as the University of Miami soccer team battled No. 4 Wake Forest to a 0-0 draw Saturday afternoon at Cobb Stadium.
With the tie, the Hurricanes moved to 8-3-2 overall and 3-2-1 in ACC play, while Wake Forest moved to 10-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in conference action.
Wake Forest generated two shots on goal during the opening half, but Olofson turned away both attempts in the 12th and 15th minutes to keep the match scoreless.
Miami created its first scoring opportunity in the 29th minute when Kambryl Armstrong placed a shot on goal. The Hurricanes were then reduced to 10 players in the 38th minute following a red card issued to Crosby Nicholson. Despite the disadvantage, the score remained at 0-0 going into halftime.
Miami opened the second half with an offensive push, as Maddie Sadusky registered a shot on goal in the 49th minute, followed by four additional shots over the next 23 minutes, including attempts from Carlie Wysocki, Cisel Akgül, Teegan Melenhorst and Allie Serlenga.
The Demon Deacons finished with an 8-6 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in shots on goal, while Miami held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Miami returns to Cobb Stadium Sunday, Oct. 18, to host Iona at 1 p.m. ET in Coral Gables. The match will also serve as Miami's Youth Soccer and Alumni Game.
