CHARLESTON, S.C. – The University of Miami women’s golf team placed fifth at the Cougar Classic on Tuesday, completing the 54 hole tournament with a team score of 856 at Yeamans Hall Club.
The Hurricanes carded rounds of 291, 283, and 282 in Tuesday’s final round to finish four over for the tournament. Miami climbed two spots on the final day and finished ahead of 13 teams in the competitive 18 team field.
Anna Behnsen led the way for the Canes, finishing tied for 15th at even par following rounds of 73, 70 and 70. Behnsen closed the tournament with consecutive one-under-par performances to secure Miami’s top individual finish.
Scarlett Schremmer joined Behnsen inside the top 25, placing 22nd at one over. The sophomore bounced back from an opening round score of 74, by shooting 70 in rounds two and three.
Freshman Bella Dovhey finished tied for 30th at three above par following rounds of 73, 72 and 71. Dovhey improved her score during each round of the tournament, concluding the event with an even par performance on Tuesday.
Ashleen Kaur also placed tied for 30th at three over after recording rounds of 71, 71 and 74. Kaur played the opening 36 holes at even par before closing the tournament at three over.
Olivia Grønborg rounded out Miami’s lineup in a tie for 81st at 14 over following rounds of 77, 79 and 71. Grønborg saved her best performance for the final round, firing an even par 71 to close out play in Charleston.
