CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami Athletics proudly announced Friday that the home of Miami Volleyball has been renamed Freeman Indoor Stadium at the Knight Sports Complex in recognition of a generous philanthropic gift from Heath and Jane Freeman.

Heath Freeman, a media, sports, real estate and hospitality executive who also serves as Executive Chairman of the AVP, the premier professional beach volleyball league in the world, and the Freeman family have made a significant investment in Miami Volleyball that will enhance the program’s facilities and support the continued development of its student-athletes.

"Volleyball is a sport on the rise across the United States, and the University of Miami and its women’s volleyball program are rising right alongside it,” Freeman said. “We are proud to support that momentum and the excitement it brings to the University of Miami as we have entered a new era for women in college athletics.”

“Heath and Jane’s generous gift will make a meaningful difference for Miami Volleyball, enhancing the spaces where our student-athletes prepare, train and compete,” Interim Co-Athletic Directors Brian Baptiste and Rachelle Paul said. “Philanthropic support like this is increasingly essential to advancing our programs and creating the best possible experience for our student-athletes. We’re incredibly grateful for the Freeman family’s investment.”

Located within the Knight Sports Complex, Freeman Indoor Stadium serves as the home of Miami Volleyball and has provided the Hurricanes with a distinct home-court environment since 2001.

Additional details surrounding the formal dedication of Freeman Indoor Stadium will be announced at a later date.
