JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Miami men’s and women’s cross-country programs will start their seasons this weekend, traveling to Jacksonville for the Florida Intercollegiate Cross-Country Invitational hosted by North Florida.
The men enter the meet ranked 15th in the United States Track and Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region Preseason Poll while the women finished just outside the top-15.
Each team returns five members from the 2025 roster and adds six newcomers.
For the women, Madeline Scheier returns for her senior campaign after setting the program record in the 5K in last season’s opening meet. She also ran the fourth best 6K time in program history at the 2025 NCAA DI South Regional.
Lucia Rodbro will also compete for Miami, returning for her sophomore season after finishing as one of Miami’s top finishers in four of the five races as a freshman.
On the men’s side, Alex Severson and Jake Rimmel both return for the Hurricanes. Severson, a sophomore, ran his best 8K time of the season in his first collegiate race, also representing the Hurricanes at the ACC Championship and the NCAA Division I South Region Championship. Rimmel also added a personal best in the Southern Showcase, his Hurricanes debut.
The Florida Intercollegiate Cross Country Invitational will be hosted at Cecil Field Golf Course. The women’s race will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by the men’s race at 7 p.m. Both teams will run the 5K.
