RALEIGH, N.C. – Freshman Maddie Sadusky scored both goals to lift the University of Miami soccer team to a 2-1 road victory over NC State Sunday afternoon at Dail Soccer Field.

The victory marked Miami’s second ACC win of the season and handed the Wolfpack its first loss of the year.

The Hurricanes improved to 7-2-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while NC State moved to 8-1-2 and 1-1-1 in the ACC.

Sadusky opened the scoring in the 10th minute, finding the back of the net for her second goal of the season to give Miami an early 1-0 advantage.

NC State responded in the 18th minute to level the match at 1-1.

The teams remained tied through halftime after Miami generated six shots during the opening 45 minutes, placing three attempts on goal.

NC State applied pressure throughout the second half, but goalkeeper Atlee Olofson recorded three saves after the break to keep the match even.

Sadusky broke through once more in the 80th minute, scoring her second goal of the match and netting the game winner to put the Hurricanes ahead, 2-1.

Despite the Wolfpack finishing with a 14-7 advantage in shots, a 5-4 edge in shots on goal and a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks, the Hurricanes held strong defensively over the final 10 minutes to secure the road victory.

Olofson played all 90 minutes in goal for Miami and finished with four saves.

Miami will return home Thursday, Sept. 24, to host Clemson at Cobb Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m., with the contest airing on ACCNX.
