CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Miami soccer team fell, 3-0, at No. 13 Virginia Thursday night in ACC action.

With the loss, the Hurricanes moved to 6-2-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while the Cavaliers improved to 5-1-2 and 1-1 in the ACC.

Virginia finished the contest with a 19-3 advantage in shots, including a 9-2 edge in shots on goal. The Cavaliers also earned six corner kicks compared to one for the Hurricanes.

Miami goalkeeper Atlee Olofson was tested early, recording four saves over the opening 25 minutes to keep the match scoreless.

The Hurricanes generated their first scoring opportunity in the 28th minute when Kambryl Armstrong placed an attempt on frame, but Virginia goalkeeper Victoria Safradin made the save.

Caroline Hood followed with another shot on goal in the 35th minute, forcing UVA to make its second save of the game.

Virginia broke through in the 41st minute when Aniyah Collier found the back of the net to give the Cavaliers a 1-0 advantage entering halftime.

The Cavaliers extended their lead with goals in the 62nd and 81st minutes to secure the home victory.

Olofson played all 90 minutes in goal for Miami and finished with six saves.

The Hurricanes will remain on the road to face NC State on Sunday, Sept. 20, in Raleigh, N.C. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. ET, with coverage available on ACCNX.
