Cross Country Teams Finish Eighth, Third at the FSU Pre-Regional

Madeline Scheier placed fourth overall in in the Women’s 6k race.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Miami cross country continued their season, Friday, competing in the FSU Pre-Regional hosted in Tallahassee.

Madeline Scheier continued to impress for the Miami women, running 21:08 to claim fourth overall and lead the Hurricanes to a third-place team finish. Scheier already has the fourth best 6K time in program history (20:42.37) set at the NCAA South Regional in 2023.

Emma Hencock was the next Miami finisher, crossing in 22:19.8 to claim a spot in the top-25 of the 253-runner field. Sophomore Lucia Rodbro rounded out the top three finishers for the Hurricanes, crossing the line in 22:34.3.

Freshman John Templeton paced the men’s team for the second straight meet, finishing in 25:15.8 as the first Hurricane to cross the line.

Fellow freshman Cason Mitchell was the next Miami finisher, posting a 25:45. Alex Severson was the third Hurricanes’ finisher, recording a 25:56.7 8K mark. The men’s team ran the 8K, earning an eighth-place team finish.

Miami will have two weeks off before returning to action at the Joe Piane – Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. on Friday, Oct. 2nd. The first race is set to begin at 10 a.m.
