CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Miami freshman running back Javian Mallory was named ACC Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Mallory earned the first weekly conference honor of his career following a breakout performance in Miami’s 77-7 win over Florida A&M.

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns on just 10 carries, averaging 14.2 yards per attempt. Mallory also broke free for a career-long 52-yard run in the victory.

Mallory helped lead a Miami rushing attack that finished with 430 yards on the ground as the Hurricanes totaled 856 yards of offense and scored on 11 of their first 12 possessions.

Miami also picked up 42 first downs, setting an ACC single-game record. The Hurricanes’ 856 yards of total offense were the second-most in conference history, trailing only Florida State’s 858-yard performance against Maryland on Nov. 7, 1992.

The honor marks the first ACC weekly award of Mallory’s career.
