Canes Rowing Race Day Central: ACC Championship
RALEIGH, N.C. – It’s been a memorable season for the 14th-ranked Hurricanes.
They’ve notched quality wins over ranked opponents, reached new highs in the polls and broken a series of school records.
This weekend, they’ll race on Lake Wheeler in the ACC Championship, looking to put together the kind of strong performance that will keep their season going and help them earn a qualifying berth in the NCAA Championships.
It won’t be easy. The ACC is home to seven teams ranked in the most recent CRCA Top 25, including the defending national champion, Stanford.
But the Hurricanes say they’re embracing the opportunities in front of them.
“We know that there’s going to be tough competition, and we know that it’s going to take every single thing that we have this weekend,” senior Holliday Prichard said. “That makes it that much more exciting, to know that we’re going up against the national champions, that we get to race alongside them. Not a lot of people get to say that.”
Miami will open racing on Friday morning at 8:15 when the third varsity eight hits the water for its qualifying heat, with the first varsity eight following suit at 8:45.
The Grand Finals and Petite Finals are scheduled to begin Saturday at 8:05.
