Miami Wins Two Events to Open Hurricane Alumni Invitational
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami track and field team won two events as it opened competition at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational on Saturday at Cobb Stadium.
The Hurricanes took first and second in the women’s hammer throw as Jocelyn Pringle won the event with a mark of 62.31m and Calea Jackson placed second with a distance of 58.65m, a personal best.
Desmond Coleman won the discus with a throw of 58.90m and improved his fifth-best mark in school history in the hammer throw with a distance of 61.33m.
Dominique Johnson placed second the women’s long jump with a distance of 5.92m and Jackson finished third in the discus with a personal-best throw of 52.38m.
Payton Serraglio bettered her fourth-highest clearance in the pole vault at 3.78m.
After the first five events of the decathlon, Seven Franco and Dominique Hall top the leaderboard with 3,861 and 3,755 points, respectively.
Miami returns to the track Saturday at 10 a.m. with the javelin while running events begin at 2:20 p.m. Live results for the meet can be found here.
