Hurricanes Open Day One of Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami track and field team opened competition Friday at the Pepsi Florida Relays with a top-five all-time performance, a pair of top-three finishes and two relays qualifying for the finals.

Jocelyn Pringle set the tone early as the junior improved her second-best mark in the women’s hammer throw with a distance of 62.39m.

The women’s 4×100 relay of Sophie Haag, Nandy, Kihuyu, Aniyah Brown and Iyonna Codd advanced to Saturday’s final with a time of 44.49. The men’s 4×100 relay team consisting of Ashton Torns, Caine Stanley, Carter Cukerstein and Dylan Woodruffe qualified for Saturday’s final at 39.85.

Sanaa Hebron opened her outdoor season with a second-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.57.

After a two-hour weather delay, Enrique Borrego closed out the day by placing third in the 5000m at 14:48.68.

The Hurricanes return to the track Saturday at 11 a.m. with the men’s discus. Live results for the meet can be found here.
