Hurricanes Travel to Gainesville for Florida Relays
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami track and field team hits the road for the first time in the outdoor season as the Hurricanes travel to Gainesville for the Pepsi Florida Relay on Friday and Saturday at the Percy Beard Track.
Action gets underway at 11 a.m. with the women’s hammer throw with action on the track beginning at 2:30 p.m. with the women’s 4×100 relay.
Saturday’s competition starts at 11 a.m. with the men’s discus. Running events are slated to begin at noon with the women’s 100m hurdles.
The Hurricanes registered five events win at the highly-competitive Hurricane Collegiate Invitational as the women’s team entered the national rankings at No. 21.
Adriana Kruzmane extended her nation-leading mark in the triple jump to 13.48m, over a foot longer that next-highest mark. Freshman Dominique Johnson holds the nation’s fourth-longest distance in the triple jump at 13.00m.
On the men’s side, Tyson Schiele earned ACC Freshman of the Week honors after setting the school’s second-longest throw in the javelin at 73.29m. The throw ranks eighth nationally and is first among all freshmen.
