Schiele Named ACC Freshman of the Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – University of Miami’s Tyson Schiele was voted as the ACC Freshman of the Week after a stellar collegiate debut, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Schiele, a Whitby, Ontario, Canada native, recorded the second-longest throw in program history in the javelin with a distance of 73.29m during the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational.
His throw ranks as the eighth-longest nationally and first in the ACC. Among all freshmen, he ranks first by over 14 feet.
The honor marks the second in as many weeks for the program during the outdoor season as Adriana Kruzmane was named the ACC Co-Field Athlete of the Week last week.
Miami returns to action Friday and Saturday as it competes at the Florida Relays in Gainesville.
