Miami Reaches New Program High at No. 16 in Latest CRCA Poll

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – After a second-place finish in the Benderson Cup standings at last weekend’s Sarasota 2K Invitational, the Miami rowing team rose two spots to No. 16 in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Coaches Poll released Tuesday.

The ranking is a new program high for the Hurricanes.

Miami finished behind only No. 12 Central Florida in the 19-team field at the Sarasota 2K and was bolstered on the final day of racing by a series of strong performances from its varsity eight boats.

The second varsity eight crew of Anna Langemann, Paula Espinosa Linares, Felipa Rosas Villalobos, Sara Caterisano, Agostina Manzotti Scolari, Kylie Evenson, Jane Elsner, Camila Cofré Lopez and Gabriela Snopková posted a second-place finish in its Grand Final with a time of 7:03.04 to beat both then-No. 20 North Carolina and then-No. 15 Dartmouth in one of Miami’s top performances of the day.

The 1V8 also posted a second-place finish and beat North Carolina and Dartmouth with its time of 6:40.53 in its Grand Final, while the 2V4 and 3V8 “A” also earned silver medals in their respective finals and the 3V8 “B” won its Petite Final.

The Hurricanes will return to action April 17 at the Orlando Invite hosted by UCF.
