Miami Continues Undefeated in Conference Play
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team (10-2, 6-0 ACC) shut out the Virginia Tech Hokies (3-10, 0-5 ACC) for its seventh win in a row to remain undefeated in ACC play.
The doubles point was a battle to open the match. Sofia Rocchetti and Sebastianna Scilipoti took court two, 6-0, over Mulready and Ziets-Segura. Right after, Virginia Tech evened the courts with a win at the top over Raquel Gonzalez and Dominika Podhajecka, 6-1, from Gamretkaia and Uslu.
On court three, Jaquelyn Ogunwale and Aely Arai clinched the opening point, 6-3, over Castillo and Myatt.
In singles, Ogunwale notched a strong 6-1, 6-1 win over Myatt on court five, before No. 67 Gonzalez followed it up with a 6-3, 6-2 top court win to put the Hurricanes up 3-0. Scilipoti then clinched the win on court three, 6-1, 6-3, against Mulready.
The Hurricanes are back at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on Sunday to face Virginia.
