Miami Achieves Highest CRCA Coaches Poll Ranking in Program History
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – After a strong showing in its first regatta of the season at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational, the Miami rowing team has entered the most recent Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Coaches Poll.
The Hurricanes claimed the No. 19 spot – its highest ranking in program history – after winning four races at the Cardinal Invite, including the first varsity eight’s three-second victory over then-No. 25 Oklahoma on Sunday.
The 1V8 crew of Scarlett Pringle, Naroa Zubimendi Varela, Jovana Stanivuk, Samantha Premerl, Mallory Sullivan, Esther Fuerte Chacón, Candela Martínez Pernas, Maria Sole Perugino and Beatrice Ravini Perelli also posted the two fastest times on both days of racing with a 6:27.9 to earn a win over Alabama, North Carolina and Navy on Saturday and a 6:30.0 on Sunday to best Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Wisconsin.
Miami’s 2V8, which featured the crew of Anna Langemann, Paula Espinosa Linares, Felipa Rosas Villalobos, Sara Caterisano, Agostina Manzotti Scolari, Kylie Evenson, Jane Elsner, Camila Cofré Lopez, and Gabriela Snopková, also won its first race of the season at the Cardinal Invite, as did the 3V8 crew of Loran Graves, Sophia Kovachik, Layla Jolley, Catherine Casey, Charlotte Maschoff, Mary Blinn, Mia Pappano, Ella-Rose Duval and Lauren Bricca.
The ranking marks just the second time the Hurricanes have been ranked in the CRCA Coaches Poll. While Miami has received votes in the poll since its inception in 2002, its lone ranking before Tuesday came on May 18, 2022, when the Hurricanes were No. 20.
Miami will return to action Saturday when it races Columbia in Fellsmere, Florida.
