Miami Falls to No. 10 Virginia in ACC Tournament Semifinals

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The University of Miami men’s basketball team fell to No. 10 Virginia, 84-62, Friday night in the ACC Tournament semifinals at the Spectrum Center.

Virginia (29-4) took a 38-23 lead into the break. Miami (25-8) held a 17-15 advantage with 6:37 remaining after Tru Washington hit a layup and a 3-pointer and Dante Allen made a layup to cap off a 7-0 run.

The Cavaliers ended the half on a 23-6 run over the final 5:40 of the half.

In the second half, the Hurricanes cut the lead to 13, 53-42, with 9:48 remaining as Allen hit a jumper before Noam Dovrat hit back-to-back 3-pointers and a Shelton Henderson jumper.

Viriginia then pushed its advantage to 26 after three-consecutive 3-pointers with 2:29 remaining prior to a Timo Malovec 3-pointer and a pair of Allen free throws.

Tru Washington led the Hurricanes with 13 points as Henderson added 12. Malik Reneau hauled in a game-high six rebounds to go along with eight points.

Miami will learn its postseason destination Sunday during the NCAA Selection Show beginning at 6 p.m. on CBS.
