Canes Open Competition at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Miami track and field team opened competition Friday at the NCAA Indoor Championships at Randal Tyson Track Center.

Tania Da Silva, the ACC champion in the women’s weight throw, placed 13th at nationals with a throw of 20.57 meters. In the women’s 800m Natalie Varela finished 14th overall with a time of 2:03.68.

On the men’s side ACC 400m champion Ace Malone ran a 45.89 in his 400m semifinal heat to place 11th overall.

The Canes return to the track Saturday to compete in the men’s high jump and men’s 4x400m relay.
