Hurricanes Begin Competition at ACC Indoor Championships Thursday
BOSTON – The University of Miami track and field team travels to Boston as it begins competition at the ACC Indoor Championships on Thursday at the TRACK at New Balance.
Action gets underway Thursday at 11 a.m. with the heptathlon and pentathlon. On Friday, the heptathlon opens competition at 11 a.m. prior to the men’s weight throw at 3:30 p.m. Championship Saturday begins at 11 a.m. with the men’s shot put while action on the track gets underway at 12:50 p.m.
The Hurricanes are coming off the Tiger Paw Invitational where three school records fell. In the men’s 4x400m relay, Sean Watkins, George Franks, Ace Malone and Dominique Hall broke the ACC record with a mark of 3:04.11. Malone set the school record in the 400m with a time of 45.43 and Kennedy Sauder broke his own school record in the high jump with a clearance of 2.22m, which currently ranks tied for fourth in the NCAA.
Entering the championships, Miami holds the top mark in the men’s 400m, men’s 4x400m relay, men’s high jump and women’s weight throw while nine Hurricanes rank in the top five.
