Santoro, Gullstrand Honored by ACC

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Freshman Matteo Santoro and veteran Emma Gullstrand were both honored by the Atlantic Coast Conference for their stellar performances at the Texas Diving Invitational this past weekend.

Santoro was named ACC Men’s Diver of the Week, while Gullstrand was named ACC Co-Women’s Diver of the Week.

In a strong showing in Austin against a talented field of competition, Gullstrand won the 3-meter springboard (362.85) and took second place on the 1-meter (303.00). Teammate Chiara Pellacani was also in contention, winning the 1-meter and finishing right behind Gullstrand on the 3-meter.

Santoro, in his true freshman season after a sparkling international career with Italy, won the 1-meter springboard (404.10) and took third on the 3-meter (386.85) to highlight a dominant weekend for the Hurricanes program.

Both divers posted Zone-qualifying cuts with their performances on their respective boards.

Gullstrand shared the award with Duke’s Keira Lu.
