Morris Breaks School Record at NCAA South Regional Championships

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – University of Miami’s Colten Morris broke the program’s record in the men’s 10k at the NCAA South Regional Championships on Friday, leading the men’s team to its highest finish in program history.

The Hurricanes placed 13th out of 27 teams and defeated three regionally ranked teams in No. 11 UT Martin, No. 12 Jacksonville State and No. 14 Belmont. Morris clocked a 31:04.92, bettering the school record set in 2013 by nearly 25 seconds to finish 56th.

Michael Castillo placed 80th at a time of 31:37.92, the fifth-fastest time in school annals and a two-minute personal record, and Evan Pena ran a 31:45.47, the seventh-fastest time in program history, to finish 85th.

Enrique Borrego finished 91st with a time of 31:58.22 while Sukai Truxal rounded out the scoring with a 102nd-place finish at 32:16.57.

On the women’s side, Maddie Scheier registered the fourth-fastest time in program history in the 6k at 20:42.37 to finish 48th. Lexi Arambulo finished 116th at 21:39.73, Lillian Deskins ran a 21:46.78 to place 124th, and Lucia Rodbro ran a 21:55.56 to place 126th.
