Canes Track Announces 30 Newcomers
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Amy Deem announced the addition of 28 newcomers to the Hurricanes track and field program, it was announced Monday.
The Hurricanes added 12 men and 18 women to the program.
“I am excited to welcome our 30 newcomers to the program,” Deem said. “We have attained quality student-athletes, who have exceled at every level of competition. This group of newcomers will continue to help us compete at the ACC and NCAA Championships in every event. I am looking forward to the start of the new season in January.”
Men
Pablo Delgado | Jumps
Delgado makes his way to Coral Gables as a graduate transfer from European Atlantic University in Cantabria, Spain. Pablo holds a personal best of 16.55m (54’3) in the triple jump and 7.76m (25’ 5) in the long jump. He was the 2025 European U23 Track and Field Championships triple jump champion with a personal-best jump of 16.55m (54’3).
Kaden Ellerbe | Sprints
Ellerbe joins the Hurricanes from Beavercreek High School in Beavercreek, Ohio. Ellerbe holds a personal-best time of 46.75 in the 400m and was the back-to-back 400m champion at the Greater Western Ohio Conference Championship. Kaden placed third in the 400m finals at the USATF Junior Olympics in a time of 46.95.
Steven Franco | Combined Events
Franco is a graduate transfer from Boston University. The Armonk, New York native holds a personal best of 7,289 points in the decathlon and 5,118 points in the heptathlon. Franco holds the Boston in both events and was the 2025 Patriot League Outdoor Decathlon Champion and 2024 Indoor Heptathlon Champion.
Dominique Hall | Combined Events
Hall makes his way to Coral Gables as a graduate transfer from the University of Cincinnati. The Alabaster, Alabama, native has a personal best of 7,649 points in the decathlon, 5,416 in the heptathlon, 47.86 in the 400m and 4.90m (16’0.75) in the pole vault. Hall was the 2023 American Outdoor Decathlon Champion with a score of 7,498 and the 2024 Big 12 Outdoor Decathlon Champion with a score of 7,649.
Colten Morris | Distance
Morris joins the program as a graduate transfer from Robert Morris University. The Lampeter, Pennsylvania, native holds a personal best of 14:59.92 in the 5000m and 24:59 in the 8000m. Morris ran a personal best of 31:34.1 at the 2024 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region Cross County Championships.
Evan Pena | Distance
Pena is a graduate transfer from UNC-Greensboro. The Wilmington, North Carolina, native holds personal best of 8:26.89 in the 3000m, 14:38.64 in the 5000m and 25:55.0 in the 8000m. Pena placed sixth at the 2025 Outdoor Southern Conference Championships in the 5000m and 10k.
Robert Rimmel | Distance
Rimmel makes his way to Coral Gables from Virginia Tech and holds a personal best of 1:51.14 in the 800m, 3:45.88 in the 1500m and 4:08.65 in the mile. Rimmel established his 1500m personal best of 3:45.88 at the 2025 Virgina High Performance Meet.
Tyson Schiele | Throws
Schiele makes his way to Miami from Brooklin High School in Whitby, Ontario. The freshman established a personal best of 73.15m (239’9) in the javelin at the 2025 Beach Invitational and placed second at the 2025 Canadian Track and Field Championships.
Alex Severson | Distance
A freshman from Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas, Severson holds a personal best of 8:30.26 in the 3000m, 9:09.40 in the two-mile run and 14:53.71 in the 5000m. He helped Carroll High School to back-to-back UIL 6A State Cross Country Championships in 2023 and 2024.
Denis Shishlo | Combined Events
Shishlo makes his way to Coral Gables from Ohio State. The Hillard, Ohio, native holds a personal best of 6.78Mm (22’3) in the long jump and 48.1m (158’0) in the discus throw and will compete in the combined events.
Sukai Truxal | Distance
A freshman from Takushoku University in Hachioji, Japan, Truxal holds a personal best of 8:23.00 in the 3000m and 14:19.91 in the 5000m. He placed second at the 2024 Japanese High School Track and Field Championships.
Dylan Woodruffe | Sprints
Woodruffe makes his way to Coral Gables from the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. He holds a personal best of 10.30 in the 100m, 21.03 in the 200m and 34.17 in the 300m. Dylan placed runner up at the 2025 Carifta Games representing Trinadad and Tobago in the 100m with a time of 10.30.
Women
Alva Back | Combined Events/ Throws
Back makes her way to Coral Gables from the Rudbeck School in Stockholm, Sweden. She holds a personal best of 5,174 points in the heptathlon and 50.67m (166’2) in the javelin throw. Beck was a finalist at the 2025 European U20 Championships in the javelin.
Aniyah Brown | Sprints
Brown is a transfer student from the Ohio State. The native of St. Louis, Missouri, holds personal bests of 11.41 in the 100m, 23.37 in the 200m and 55.72 in the 400m. She was the 2024 Missouri 5A State 100m champion and 200m Runner-up.
Magdaline Campo | Combined Events/ Jumps
A transfer from East Texas A&M University, the Montpellier, France, native holds a personal best of 5,040 points in the heptathlon and 1.82m (5’11.5) in the high jump. Campo was the 2025 Southland Indoor Conference high jump champion in 1.78m (5’10) and the 2024 high jump runner-up at the 2024 Southland Conference Indoor Championships.
Marie Chovancova | Middle Distance
Chovancova joins the Hurricanes from Evangelical Academy in Prague, Czechia. She holds a personal best of 2:04.81 in the 800m, 4:26.70 in the 1500m and 55.92 in the 400m. Chovancova won the 2025 WLN Qualimeeting U20 800m in 2:04.86. She advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 World Athletic U20 Championships in the 800m.
Tania Da Silva | Throws
Da Silva makes her way to Coral Gables from New Mexico Junior College. The Porto Alegre, Brazil, native holds a personal best of 60.62m m (198’11) in the hammer throw and 20.82m (68’3.75) in the weight throw. Tania won back-to-back NJCAA titles in the indoor weight throw and the outdoor hammer throw.
Lillian Deskins | Distance
Deskins joins the Hurricanes from Romeo High School in Romeo, Michigan. She holds a personal best of 5:00.29 in the 1600m, 10:36.28 in the 3200m and 17:57.40 in the 5000m. She assisted her cross-country team to the 2024 Michigan D1 Cross Country State Championship as well as a berth the 2024 Nike Cross Country Nationals.
Katie Hetzel | Distance
Hetzel makes her way to Coral Gables from Cookeville High School in Cookeville, Tennessee. She holds a personal best of 5:14.61 in the 1600m, 10:45.74 in the 3200m and 17:33.56. Hetzel won the 2025 Great Eight Invitational in a personal best time of 10:45.74.
Dominique Johnson | Jumps
Johnson joins Miami from Huntley High School in Huntley, Illinois. Johnson was the 2025 Gatorade Illinois Girls Track Player of the Year. She holds a personal best of 6.17m (20’3) in the long jump and 13.18m (43’3) in the triple jump. Dominique swept the long and triple jump at the 2025 Illinois 3A State Track and Field Championships.
Cameron Kelly-Gordon | Middle Distance
Kelly-Gordon is a transfer student that makes her way to Coral Gables from University of Birmingham in Birmingham, England. She holds a personal best of 2:09.45 in the 800m and 56.76 in the 400m.
Nandy Kihuyu | Sprints
Kihuyu joins the Hurricanes from New Mexico Junior College. The Sheffield, England, native holds a personal best of 23.60 in the 200m and 52.99 in the 400m. Kihuyu was the 2025 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships 400m runner-up. During the NJCAA Outdoor Championships, she placed third in the 400m with a personal-best time of 52.99.
Lauren Kirby | Throws
Kirby makes her way to Miami from Somerset Academy. She holds a personal best of 15.03m (49’3) in the shot put and 49.29m (161’8) in the discus. Kirby won three consecutive FHSAA State 3A Championships in shot put (2023, 2024, and 2025) and two consecutive in the discus (2024 and 2025).
Adriana Kruzmane| Jumps
Kruzmane makes her way to Miami from Murjano Sports Gymanasium in Lecava, Latavia. She holds a personal best of 6.26m (20’6) in the long jump and 13.62m (44’8) in the triple jump. Kruzmane won the bronze medal at the 2025 European Junior Championships with a Latavian junior record of 13.62m (44’8). She is the national U20 record holder in the triple jump.
Jocelyn Pringle | Throws
Pringle is a transfer student from East Carolina University. The native of Jacksonville, Fla., holds a personal best of 59.85m (196’4) in the hammer throw and 20.36m (66’9.75) in the weight throw. Pringle was the 2025 American Conference Outdoor Champion in the hammer throw and indoor champion in the weight throw. She was a 2025 NCAA East Preliminary qualifier in the hammer throw.
Lucia Rodbro | Distance
Rodbro makes her way to Coral Gables from Talawanda High Schol in Oxford, Ohio. She holds a personal best of 5:05.61 in the 1600m of, 10:46.00 in the 3200m and 17:40.93 in the 5000m. Rodbro ran an indoor personal best of 10:54.36 at the 2025 New Balance Indoor Nationals.
Utitofon Sam | Throws
Sam is a transfer student from Texas State, that makes her way from Akwa Ibon, Nigeria. She holds a personal best of 55.84M (183’2) in the discus, 55.76m (181’11) in the hammer throw and 20.32m (66’8) in the weight throw. Sam was the 2024 Sun Belt Outdoor conference champion in the discus and 2025 Sun Belt indoor runner-up in the weight throw. She is a two-time NCAA West Preliminary Qualifier in the discus throw.
Ivanilda Semendo | Throws
Semendo makes her way to Coral Gables from Barton Community College. The Lisbon, Portugal native holds a personal best of 57.77m (189’6) in the discus throw. Semendo was the NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Discus Runner-up in 2024 and 2025.
Antonia Sanchez-Nunez | Hurdles/Sprints
Sanchez-Nunez is a transfer student from the University of Arizona. The Mexico City native holds a personal best of 55.91 in the 400m hurdles and 53.16 in the 400m. Sanchez-Nunez won the 2025 Pan American 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 55.91. She placed fourth in the 400mH finals at the 2025 Big 12 Championships and is a three-time NCAA West Preliminary Qualifier in the 400mH.
Zuzanna Zajac | Hurdles
A spring enrollee, Zajac makes her way to Coral Gables from Konopnicka Secondary School in Katowice, Poland. She holds personal bests of 8.21 in the 60mH, 13.28 in the 100mH and 24.11 in the 200m. Zajac placed sixth in the finals on the 100mH final at the 2025 European U20 Track and Field Championships with a time of 13.50.
