Heredia Colon, Rodriguez Claim ACC Honors
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Senior Flormarie Heredia Colon and redshirt sophomore Ariana Rodriguez claimed ACC Player of the Week honors, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Monday afternoon.
The recognitions come after wins over Boston College and Syracuse.
Heredia Colon earned the ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week award after another incredible weekend with 57 kills, hitting .415, averaging 8.14 kills per set, four aces, 10 digs and 62.5 points.
Against Boston College, Heredia Colon had 23 kills on a .487 clip, along with two aces and 25.5 points in the sweep. She followed it up with a 34-kill match vs Syracuse, the most in a four-set match in program history, hit .373, had eight digs, two aces and 37 points for the win.
The Santo Domingo native now leads the NCAA and ACC for total points (544.5), points per set (6.64) and kills per set (5.56), while leading the conference in kills (2nd in NCAA with 474) and is second in the ACC in aces per set (12th in NCAA) and total aces (13th in NCAA).
Rodriguez was named Co-Setter of the Week after adding impressive stats with 87 assists, averaging 12.43 assists per set, 16 digs, eight aces, nine kills on a .389 clip with 18 attempts and 17.5 points. She leads the ACC in total aces (3rd in NCAA with 59) and aces per set (3rd in NCAA with 0.68), while also ranking third in total assists in the ACC.
Miami will face in-state rival Florida State on Wednesday at the Knight Sports Complex.
