S&D Splits Tri-Meet With Rutgers, Arkansas

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The Miami Hurricanes wrapped up a two-day trip to Rutgers for a tri-meet with the host Scarlet Knights and Arkansas Razorbacks Saturday afternoon.

Miami split the results, topping Rutgers, 186-166, but falling to Arkansas, 249-102.

The Hurricanes’ top entry in the 400-yard medley relay finished second in the event to open action, with Leah Treglia, Zofia Sobczak, Ashlyn Massey and Savannah Barr finishing in 3:41.31.

Miami added top-three finishes from Sophie Lenze in the 200-yard breaststroke (third, 2:14.56) and Treglia in the 100-yard backstroke (third, 55.05) to continue momentum.

Freshman Isabelle Videment was second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.79) while the veteran Barr added points in the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.83, third).

An NCAA Championships qualifier a season ago, Massey picked up Miami’s first individual win on the 100-yard butterfly (52.53) while Chiara Pellacani took second in the 1-meter dive (300.60).

Other strong showings came in the form of Lenze’s second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:03.46), where she fell just short of first, and another win from Massey in the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.30).

Miami returns to the pool on Oct. 31 with a home meet against Florida Southern. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m. from the Whitten Pool.
