
VB Jumps to No. 14 in AVCA Rankings
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami volleyball team (15-2, 5-1 ACC) moved up another four spots to No. 14 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association rankings.
The Hurricanes opened the weekend with their highest ranked win at home, taking down No. 4 Pitt in a reverse 3-2 sweep. Senior Flormarie Heredia Colon earned a program record 38 kills and double-double with 11 digs to secure the win.
Miami then fell to No. 10 SMU, only picking up their second loss of the season and first in conference play, in four sets.
Heredia Colon continues to lead the NCAA and ACC for points per set (6.32) and kills per set (5.40), while also leading the conference in kills (6th in NCAA) and points (fifth in NCAA).
The Hurricanes will head to the West Coast to take on Cal and Stanford Oct. 16 and 19, respectively.
