
Canes Open Season at FGCU’s Eagle Invitational
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s swimming and diving team opened its 2025-26 season this weekend at the two-day Eagle Invitational, hosted by FGCU.
FGCU garnered 2,527.25 points, Tampa collected 2,342 points and Miami registered 1,814.75 points. UM’s divers did not compete.
Miami captured three relay events — the 200, 400 and 800-yard freestyle relays. Ashlyn Massey, an NCAA qualifier last season, won the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 1:59.44. Savannah Barr won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.55 and tied for first in the 50-yard freestyle (23.34).
Leah Treglia placed second in the 100-yard backstroke, while Sarah Sensenbrenner took second in the 200-yard backstroke. Freshmen Phoebe Mayo (400 IM), Isabelle Videment (100 fly), Brooke Murphy (500 free), Ines Mahmoudi (100 free), and Sophie Lenze (200 breast) finished second in their respective events in their first appearance as Hurricanes.
Miami returns to the water on October 24 for a two-day meet at Rutgers against the homestanding Scarlet Knights and Arkansas.
