Miami Places Sixth at FSU XC Invite

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams placed sixth in their respective races Friday at the FSU XC Invite at Apalachee Regional Park.

The men finished sixth with 194 points in the 35-team field. Colten Morris led the way with a 17th-place finish with a time of 25:11.7. Sukai Truxal placed 31st at 25:35.6 while Michael Castillo ran a 25:55.7 to finish 47th.

Evan Pena clocked a 25:57.3 to place 48th while Alex Severson rounded out the scoring with a 53rd-place finish at 26:06.1.

The women scored 196 points in the 36-team race. Maddie Scheier recorded her second top-15 finish of the season as she finished 15th at 21:41.1, followed by Emma Hencock, who ran a 22:32.7 to finish 39th.

Freshmen Katie Hetzel and Lillian Deskins finished 40th and 43rd at 22:34.2 and 22:37.2, respectively. Lexi Arambulo closed out the scoring for the Hurricanes, placing 61st at 22:55.9.

Miami returns to action Oct. 17 as they compete at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
