Masuhr Announces Hiring of Juan Cediel

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami soccer head coach Ken Masuhr announced the addition of Juan Cediel as an assistant coach with primary emphasis on goalkeepers.

Cediel comes to Coral Gables after spending the last two seasons at Southern Miss where he helped the Golden Eagles to six wins in 2023 including a 5-2-2 record at home. Over the two-year span in Hattiesburg, Cediel’s goalkeepers amassed seven shutouts.

“Juan stood out very early in the search for our new goalkeepers coach,” Masuhr said. “He has an extensive background both in college and internationally which will help us broaden our efforts to evaluate, recruit and continue to develop world-class goalkeepers at the University of Miami. I am thrilled to bring him on staff and look forward to watching our goalkeeper core grow under his care.”

Prior to his time at Southern Miss, Cediel earned his bachelor’s in science and business administration, and master’s in business administration from Mid-America Christian University.

He gained experience as a goalkeeper coach for the men’s team during his time there and has contributed his coaching expertise to the Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program and the professional developmental soccer league, USL League 2.
