Keelan Promoted to Associate Head Coach

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer program and head coach Ken Masuhr announced the promotion Wednesday of Kelly Keelan to associate head coach.

“I am thrilled to elevate KK to Associate Head Coach,” Masuhr said. “She is one of the most selfless individuals that I have ever encountered, and her relentless pursuit of excellence is evident in how she conducts herself and her approach to coaching elite athletes. KK is an exceptional human being, and our players and staff are better with her wearing orange and green.”

Keelan joined the Miami soccer staff last season as an assistant coach, reuniting with Masuhr shortly after he accepted the head coach position.

In her first season on staff, Miami compiled an overall record of 5-8-4, marking a two-win improvement from the previous season. The Hurricanes had three separate players earn ACC Offensive/Defensive Player of the Week honors throughout the campaign, and at the conclusion of the season, freshman Giovana Canali was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team as well as the All-ACC Third Team.

Keelan is excited to continue with the Hurricanes in her new role.

“I’m incredibly grateful and excited about what lies ahead as we continue developing the program here at Miami,” said Keelan. “I’ve been lucky to work with Ken Masuhr over the last 10 years, and I am proud of the work we’ve put in and all of our accomplishments together. I am looking forward to continuing to help Ken, the staff, and this program achieve more in the future.”

Keelan made her way to Miami from VCU where she was an assistant coach from 2022-2024. Prior to her time at VCU, she was an assistant coach alongside Masuhr at Vanderbilt from 2015-2022, where she helped the Commodores win 78 games and secure the 2018 SEC Regular Season Championship and the 2020 SEC Tournament Championship. Keelan also spent time on staff at Georgetown, Penn, and Ohio before her stint at Vanderbilt.

As a player, Keelan had a stellar career at George Mason, dominating as both a goalkeeper and a forward. In the field, she recorded 21 goals and 11 assists throughout her career. In the net, Keelan totaled 58 saves in 2008, as she paced George Mason that season in goals, points, saves, and shutouts.
