Transfer Rafael Segado Signs with Miami

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami men’s tennis head coach Alex Santos announced the addition of University of Florida transfer Rafael Segado.

“It is with incredible enthusiasm and confidence that we welcome Rafa into our family,” said Santos. “Rafa’s level of tennis speaks for itself and alignment to what we believe in made it a clear choice.”

From Cartagena, Spain, Segado spent the spring season with the Gators and appeared in three matches, where he went undefeated in singles and doubles.

Segado said, “I can’t wait to contribute to the team’s success and represent the Canes with pride. Miami has such great coaches and teammates.”

Prior to college, Segado secured the European Junior Davis Cup title with Spain, along with earning an ITF junior ranking at No. 73 and was ranked No. 44 nationally in Spain. The freshman also earned a 12.83 UTR and had a national junior ranking of No. 4 in his country.

Segado is the third addition for the 2025-26 season and will join the Hurricanes after coming off their first berth back to the NCAA tournament since 2022 and their 30th appearance in program history.
