University of Miami Athletics Earns High Marks on Latest NCAA APR Report
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami athletic department earned an Academic Progress Rate score of 992 in the NCAA’s latest APR report, which was released Tuesday.
The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally. The NCAA released APR data for all Division I institutions Tuesday. The national APR average is 984.
Twelve UM programs achieved APR perfect scores of 1,000 for the 2023-24 academic year – men’s basketball, men’s cross country, men’s diving, men’s track and field, women’s basketball, women’s cross country, golf, soccer, women’s swimming and diving, women’s tennis, women’s track and field and volleyball.
Six programs – men’s cross country, men’s diving, golf, soccer, women’s tennis and volleyball – earned perfect multi-year scores based on the 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years. Seven programs – men’s basketball, men’s cross country, men’s diving, golf, soccer, women’s tennis and volleyball – earned Public Recognition Awards, which set a school record.
“I am proud of our student-athletes for continuing to earn high APR marks,” Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said. “Thank you to our staff and coaches for their diligent work in helping our student-athletes succeed in their academic pursuits.”
The APR provides a real-time look at a team’s academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team’s academic performance.
