Men’s 4x100 Relay, Javelin Records Fall as Hurricanes Wrap Up Regular Season

BATON ROUGE, La.; JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The University of Miami track and field team concluded the regular season with strong performances as the team competed at the LSU Invitational and East Coast Relays on Saturday.

The day was highlighted by the men’s 4x100m relay team of Carter Cukerstein, Ashton Torns, Lance Ward and Caine Stanley as the group broke the school record in the event with a time of 39.40, bettering the previous record of 39.57 set in 2010.

Devoux Deysel broke his own school record in the men’s javelin with a toss of 79.02m, the third-longest throw in the country this season.

The men’s 4x400m relay of Ace Malone, George Franks, Robert Joseph and Ward clocked a 3:06.09, the second-fastest time in program history.

Deisiane Teixeria finished third in the women’s javelin with a throw of 51.60m. The women’s 4x100m relay team of Sophie Haag, Iyonna Codd, Alyssa Robinson and Sanaa Hebron placed third with a time of 44.68.

At the East Coast Relays, Helga Sigurjonsdottir finished third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.75m. In the triple jump, Christina Warren earned third with a distance of 12.83m.

Miami returns to action May 15-17 for the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
