
Miami Records Three Wins to Open East Coast Relays
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The University of Miami track and field team opened up competition at the East Coast Relays with three wins and a top-five mark Friday at Hodges Stadium.
Kennedy Sauder began the day with a win in the high jump as he cleared 2.13m, a season-high mark.
Maddie Scheier broke her own school record in the 3000m steeplechase to win the event with a time of 10:34.72, 14 seconds faster than her previous mark.
Daphnee Lavassas won the women’s 5000m with a season-best time of 16:33.47.
Cormac O’Brien capped off the day with the third-fastest time in the men’s 5000m at 14:31.71 to finish second.
The Hurricanes return to action Saturday at the LSU Invitational beginning at 11 a.m. and the East Coast Relays at 11:30 a.m.
