ESPN’s Adelson to Serve as Emcee for 11th Annual Celebration of Women’s Athletics
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami Athletics announced Monday that ESPN senior writer and ACC Network contributor Andrea Adelson will serve as emcee for the 11th annual Celebration of Women’s Athletics presented by adidas on Sunday, April 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the Shalala Student Center Complex.
The Celebration of Women’s Athletics honors current Miami female student-athletes from each of UM’s women’s programs for excellence on the playing field, as well as in the classroom and community.
Adelson, a Miami native, joined ESPN as a staff writer and college football blogger in 2010 and often contributes to College GameDay Built by The Home Depot in addition to serving as the co-host of the weekly Inside ACCess college football show on ACC Network.
“We are honored to have Andrea serve as the emcee for the CWA this year,” Deputy Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator Rachelle Paul said. “She is an incredible advocate and ambassador for women’s athletics, and we are excited to welcome her back to South Florida for one of our signature annual events.”
Prior to ESPN, Adelson spent four years (2006-10) covering college football for the Orlando Sentinel as a columnist. She also previously covered the Hurricanes as a sportswriter for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, and she worked as a copy editor and sportswriter for the Associated Press from 2002-06.
Adelson was the 2024 president of the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and won the 2024 Edward R. Murrow Award for sports reporting. She has occupied leadership roles in the FWAA’s All-America Committee and Super 11 Committee.
“I am honored to come back home and help celebrate so many incredible women,” Adelson said. “They embody what it means to dream and achieve — through their toughness, resilience, hard work and dedication to their craft. They may not realize it, but they are role models to so many — including my teenage daughters — and deserve this night of celebration.”
