MBB Inks Tre Donaldson
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami men’s basketball coach Jai Lucas announced the signing of transfer Tre Donaldson Monday evening.
Donaldson joins the Hurricanes after spending the 2024-25 season at the University of Michigan, where he helped the Wolverines win the 2025 Big Ten Tournament and advance to the Sweet Sixteen of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
“Tre brings a wealth of postseason experience to our team, having played in multiple NCAA Tournaments and winning the Big Ten Tournament title this year at Michigan,” Lucas said. “He has been in high-pressure moments and has the experience that is needed at the guard position to help us win big games. Tre is a bully and a bruiser when he is in the paint but also has the agility and shooting to play on the perimeter. We are very excited to welcome him to the team.”
A 6-foot-3, 195-pound guard, Donaldson started all 37 games for the Wolverines, averaging 11.3 points, 4.1 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game. In 2024-25, Donaldson led Michigan in assists per game, ranked second in 3-point field goal percentage (.375) and third in scoring.
Prior to Michigan, Donaldson played for two seasons at Auburn, helping the Tigers to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2024 SEC Tournament crown.
As a Tiger, Donaldson averaged 4.7 points, 2.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds per game, while starting 10 of 67 games played. The guard totaled 12 double-figure scoring contests and was a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection.
A native of Tallahassee, Fla., Donaldson was a four-year letterwinner at Florida State University High School, where he played both basketball and football (quarterback and defensive back).
In 2022, Donaldson was named the Florida Dairy Farmers Association Player of the Year after leading the Seminoles to a state championship title as a senior, averaging 16.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
